Now that the busiest time of year has come to a close and I have taken what feels like a deep breath, I have surfaced to begin writing posts about my photography. To pen all the things I had been dreaming about saying between editing sessions and my full time job.
This was the first year I dove fully into the idea that photography could be something I pursued as more than just a hobby. I tried to really embrace the idea of just being delusionally confident in all things and it ended up being a crazy summer. I second shot weddings, I photographed Shake the Lake (a classic rock festival in my home town of Regina, Saskatchewan) and I got the opportunity to capture so many memories for people including family photos and couples in love. I still have so much to learn but I couldn't be more thankful for the year I've had so far.
I figured it was time I posted something of a longer introduction, a background so to speak, so that you have a better idea of how I got to be the girl behind the camera. My career journey has been chaotic to say the least. I went to university right out of high school but struggled. I didn’t struggle in the sense that I was bad at school, in fact, if I really put my mind to it I was perfectly decent at school, I struggled with direction and sometimes I still do if I'm being honest.
I started serving when I turned 19 and to spare you the details this started a very long series of events where I would drop out of school, go back to school, drop out of school, go back to school and well I'm sure you get the picture. During that time I worked, I was a waitress, I was a bartender, I was a shift supervisor, I did it all in the restaurants that I worked. I also travelled, and during those travels is when my love for photography really started to grow. There was no bigger joy in my life during that time than wandering around a new city taking photos.
Eventually after covid, I decided that I was going to actually finish my degree. I went full steam ahead and was a full time student for a full year and eventually convicted with my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science ten years after I took my first class. I got my first office job and worked my serving job for a little while before I decided that I was going to quit my serving job to pursue my photography dream in the part time and now were here.
I will have more to say in the coming weeks bust just wantd to pop on here to say hi in case anyone was waiting in anxious anticipation.
